Frequently asked questions

The questions Casualties Unknown players ask most often — release status, multiplayer, the descent and the medical system.

Heads up: release and scope answers below reflect the developer's public statements about a game still in development — they can change. Item, recipe and vital stats elsewhere on the site are exact in-game values.
Is Casualties Unknown out yet?+
Not in full. Casualties Unknown is in active development by solo developer Orsoniks, and a free demo is currently playable on Steam. A full release has been targeted for later in development, but scope and timing can shift — everything on this site is built from the current demo build.
Is there multiplayer or co-op?+
No — Casualties Unknown is a single-player cave exploration survival game. You descend alone, managing your own vitals, inventory and crafting.
What is the "descent" and how many depth layers are there?+
The descent is the game's core loop — each run takes you further down through a sequence of named depth biomes, each harder than the last, with random layer modifiers (fog, heat, flooding and more) that can make any layer deadlier than usual. See the depth biomes guide for the full layer order and modifier list.
What do the difficulty presets change?+
Five run presets — from relaxed to desolate and unchipped — adjust things like enemy aggression, resource scarcity and vital decay rates. See the difficulty guide for exact per-preset overrides.
How does the medical / limb system work?+
Injuries are tracked per limb — bleeding, fractures, infection and more each need a specific treatment item rather than a generic heal. The first aid triage guide maps every symptom to what treats it.
Is this site official?+
No. Casualties Unknown DB is an unofficial, fan-made database for Casualties Unknown. It is not affiliated with the developer or publisher of the game.
